The prospects of working abroad are broadening with a number of Eastern European nations expressing interest in hiring Vietnamese staff.
Japan welcomed 29,665 Vietnamese guest workers in the first four months of this year, becoming the largest recipient of workers under labour contract from the Southeast Asian nation.
Vietnam sent more than 35,900 labourers to work abroad under contracts in the first quarter of 2024, according to the Department of Overseas Labour under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA).
The Czech Republic needs to attract foreign workers, including those from Vietnam and the Philippines, said Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Marian Jurecka.
South Korea is seeking to employ more than 12,000 Vietnamese workers this year, mainly for the manufacturing and fishery industries, according to the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.
Taiwan (China) and Japan are expected to remain the top destinations for Vietnamese workers this year with 90 percent of all overseas employees working there.
