A delegation of experts from UNESCO made a field trip to the northern province of Lang Son from July 6 -10 for on-site assessment of the dossier submitted to the organisation to seek the organisation's recognition of Lang Son Geopark as a global one.

The northern mountainous province of Ha Giang on October 29 held a ceremony to receive UNESCO’s recognition of the Dong Van Karst Plateau as a global geopark for the third time.

The People’s Committee of Cao Bang province on September 30 held a ceremony to launch a culture, sports, and tourism week and receive a certificate re-verifying Non Nuoc Cao Bang a UNESCO-recognised Global Geopark.

Vietnam is currently home to three geoparks, namely Dong Van Karst Plateau in Ha Giang province and Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark in Cao Bang province.

UNESCO experts are willing to share experience and support the northern mountainous province of Lang Son to build a dossier for a global geopark, UNESCO Representative to Vietnam Christian Manhart pledged on February 23.
