The latest list of 13 national intangible heritages includes the water puppetry of Dao Thuc Village in Dong Anh District, Van Phuc Silk Village in Ha Dong District, and Hat Do traditional fold singing in Quoc Oai District.
Preserving heritage is now the top priority of UNESCO and countries having globally-recognised heritage, including Vietnam.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has decided to add 23 cultural icons to the list of national intangible cultural heritages.
The eighth version of the Vietnam heritage photo contest, launched by Vietnam Heritage magazine received a total of 3,075 entries from 413 photographers nationwide, with 14 prizes being awarded to the contest’s best artworks.
Vietnam now has 24 UNESCO-recognised heritage. This heritage reflects the beauty of Vietnam’s natural landscape and the richness of its culture.
Countries must act beyond their borders and join together to stop the illicit trafficking of irreplaceable cultural heritage, said Edouard Planche, secretary of the UNESCO's Convention for the Fight Against Illicit Trafficking of Cultural Property.
