Sixty-one people have died and 48 others injured on Vietnam’s roads over the three-day holiday weekend.
Four people died and one got injured after they, riding the same scooter, ploughed into the median strip of a main street in Thai Nguyen city, Thai Nguyen province, today - August 25.
More than 8,300 traffic accidents occurred in the country in the first half of this year, which left 3,810 people dead and over 6,300 others injured, according to the National Committee for Road Safety.
As many as 66 people were killed and 60 others injured in 97 traffic accidents which occurred during the three-day Hung Kings' Death Anniversary holiday.

Over 18,400 traffic accidents occurred across the country over the last ten months, killing nearly 7,200 people and injuring more than 16,700, the National Traffic Safety Committee (NTSC) reported.
The number of traffic accidents in the first half of 2015 fell 12.85 percent year on year to roughly 11,180 cases, killing almost 4,480 people and injuring nearly 10,150 others, down 4.5 percent and 17.24 percent, respectively.
