It is time for Vietnam to master technologies to make sure local businesses, organisations and people are protected from cyber-attacks, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung said on November 29.

Vietnam is joining more than 100 other countries and territories at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Telecom World 2019, taking place in Budapest from September 9-12.

Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, who is Special Envoy of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, attended a ceremony celebrating the 20th anniversary of Timor Leste’s independence referendum on August 30 evening.

Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung was questioned by deputies attending the ongoing 36th session of the National Assembly Standing Committee on August 15.

Vietnam needs an additional 50,000 information and communication technology (ICT) firms to speed up digital transformation, said Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung.

HCMC needs to accelerate the development of its telecom infrastructure to make sure all city residents own smartphones by 2021, said Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung.

Digital transformation will open up opportunities for Vietnam, mainly technology enterprises, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung said at a meeting on July 15.

All foreign firms, especially cross-border service providers such as Google, YouTube, Facebook and the like, must comply with Vietnamese law while operating in the country, stated Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung.
