VietNamNet Bridge – While the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) places high hopes on the new assessment method that takes effect this school year, primary schools have voiced their opposition.
VietNamNet Bridge – Many Vietnamese parents complain that the general school curricula is too extensive, even though many students receive excellent marks.
Being present at roll call or attending exams under the names of other students have become very popular services. Other supporting services, including the student card or doctor’s certificate forging, have also mushroomed.
The comment “excellent” made by teachers can be understood by the parents that their children are given 10 marks for their school works. However, in most of the other cases, marks show clearer messages than comments.
Vietnam is seriously lacking the labor force for the healthcare sector. Meanwhile, the HCM City Education and Training Department has reported that only 50 percent of medical school graduates can find the jobs as trained.
When the exam season comes, university students whisper in each other’s ears that an envelope with 500,000 dong inside would be enough to buy 10 marks, while 400,000 dong would bring 8 marks .
