Hanoi is experiencing scorching hot days with recorded temperatures of 60 degrees centigrade outside.

Northern and north-central provinces are sizzling in a severe hot wave, with temperatures ranging from 37-40 degrees Celsius and even over 40 degrees C in some places, announced the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

It is forecast that this summer the weather in the Northern region of Vietnam will not be as intense and prolonged as it was in 2020. However, there may be heat waves in some provinces with the highest temperatures reaching 41- 42 degrees Celsius.

A street cleaner, a waste collector in Hanoi, a traffic police officer in the central city of Nghe An and a construction worker in the central province of Ha Tinh continued to do their job diligently despite the intense heat at noon on recent days.

Despite the hot weather of 40 degrees Celsius, people are still working hard on salt fields in Hoa Loc commune, Hau Loc district, in the central province of Thanh Hoa. In return, however, the yield and quality of salt will be higher.

At 11 am on June 1, the temperature measured in many places across the country was more than 40 degrees Celsius. The heat wave is expected to continue for the next few days.

Regions throughout northern and central Vietnam, including Hanoi, continued to endure a hot spell for the second time this year with temperatures in some places reaching 42 degrees Celsius, 

A new heat wave is forecast to hit the northern and central regions from June 22 – 24 and could push the temperature up to 42 degrees Celsius (107.6 degree Fahrenheit) in some areas.
