VietNamNet Bridge – A woman from the central province of Nghe An was arrested on February 12 while transporting six dead, frozen monkeys in a sack.
The wildlife trafficker, named Hoang Thi Nguyet, was arrested on National Highway 48 in Dien Chau District, Nghe An province, while taking six dead monkeys totaling 40kg to a local restaurant.
The police searched her home and found two live monkeys, including one without two front legs, and three dead monkeys, one dried and two frozen, totaling 60kg in weight. They also seized 214kg of python bones and 2kg of bear skins besides several sets of monkey skins.
Nguyet said she bought the monkeys from hunters.
The case is under investigation.
Previously, on January 27, Nghe An police seized 456 kg of monkeys, deers and fox from a wildlife trader in Tuong Duong district.
