        Johnathan Hanh Nguyen has transferred most of his stock assets to his wife

Several others have trillions of dong from their own businesses, unrelated to the husbands’ stocks.

Do Quynh Ngan, the wife of Nguyen Duc Vinh, CEO of VP Bank, has registered to buy 10 million VPBank shares. Ngan would have to pay VND410 billion for the shares.

There are many woman billionaires at VP Bank. Hoang Anh Minh, the wife of president Ngo Chi Dung, now holds a 4.83 percent VPBank stake, worth VND3 trillion. Vu Thi Quyen, his mother, holds 4.73 percent. Both of them have been added to the top 15 stock billionaires.

Kim Ngoc Cam Ly, the wife of Bui Hai Quan, vice president of VP Bank, now has a 4.72 percent VP Bank stake. Meanwhile, Nguyen Thu Thuy, the wife of Lo Bang Giang, vice president, has 3.31 percent.

It is common in Vietnam that the wives of big bosses are also big shareholders in the businesses, where their husbands hold important positions but don’t hold a stake.

Nguyen Dang Quang is the chair and CEO of Masan Group, the $3 billion conglomerate, but he is not found on any list of wealthy people. Quang’s wife, Nguyen Hoang Yen, holds 28 million MSN and 261 million MCH, worth VND1.6 trillion.

Most recently, Johnathan Hanh Nguyen, called the ‘branded goods King’, has transferred most of his stock assets in IPP Group to his wife, Le Hong Thuy Tien and his sons. While Tien now has 59 percent, Hanh Nguyen only has a one percent stake.

Tien is now a woman billionaire who manages tens of businesses with annual revenue of hundreds of millions of dollars.

A similar transfer move has been taken by Tran Quy Thanh of Tan Hiep Phat Group.

Thanh no longer holds any position in Tan Hiep Phat, while the stake is being held by his wife Pham Thi Nu and two daughters.

At Masan Group, Ho Hung Anh has registered to transfer nearly VND1 billion worth of stake to his wife Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy.

At Thieu Nien Tien Phong Plastics, Le Thi Thuy Hai, the wife of Dang Quoc Dung, a member of the board of directors, holds a 7 percent stake, higher than the stake in Dung’s hands.

Meanwhile, there are big bosses’ wives who are wealthy thanks to their own business. Cao Thi Ngoc Dung, president of PNJ, a jewelry company, has seen her assets increase by VND1.1 trillion, though her husband Tran Phuong Binh is in jail because of wrongdoings related to DongA Bank.
