The bay spans 16 square kilometers and is the main fishing ground for many fishermen in the central province. Its serene landscape, especially at dawn and sunset, attracts a large number of visitors from near and far.
Many tourists also come to Vung Ro to learn about historical sites. In the 1960s, Vung Ro was a venue used by revolutionary soldiers to transport weapons by vessel from the north to the south.
The vessels had no registered numbers on them when they were used to transport the weapons from the north to the south during the Vietnam War that ended in 1975.
