VietNamNet Bridge – Vu Thi Trang moved up 14 places to 60th in the latest BWF World Rankings announced on October 9, making herself a female player with second best world ranking in Vietnam’s badminton history.

Trang was awarded an additional 2,500 bonus points as a result of her women’s singles crown won at the recent Kawasaki-Biere Larue Vietnam International Series, increasing her total world rating to 24,130 points.

The Bac Giang-born girl has made a 40-notch leap over the last two months to become Vietnam’s second female player to make the world’s top 60, after former national champion, Le Ngoc Nguyen Nhung, who used to be ranked 59th in the world in August 2008.

On the men’s side, Nguyen Tien Minh dropped one place to sit 24th in the world with 41,060 points.

Young player, Pham Cao Cuong impressed with a 69-place rise to 275th, earning 4,960 points. Cuong also leapt up one place to 11th position in the world junior rankings with 19,674 points.

Tien Minh and Vu Thi Trang will challenge themselves at the US$600,000 Denmark Open Super Series Premier, to be held in Odense from October 14-19.
