VietNamNet Bridge – Assessing the results of the year-end National Assembly session in October, several members of the National Assembly Standing Committee said that the question and answer session for Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung was too short and constituents wanted to listen more from him.

The National Assembly Office’s Chair – Mr. Nguyen Hanh Phuc said that the question and answer session met the requirements and aspirations of voters and attracted the attention of the public. For the first time, the National Assembly took time to consider and discuss the Government's report on the implementation of the resolutions of the National Assembly on the question and answer session at the 3rd, 4th and 5th NA meetings.

"The Q & A sessions took place democratically, openly, with a constructive spirit. The National Assembly deputies raised short, straightforward and focused questions," Phuc said.

Referring to this issue, the Chair of the NA Committee for Defense and Security – Mr. Nguyen Kim Khoa said that many voters were displeased because of the short time for the Q&A for PM Nguyen Tan Dung. Many questions, including many important questions, were not answered because of the shortage of time.

NA Vice Chair – Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan agreed and said that the time for the PM was too short while the voters wanted to listen to more answers from him.

At the last session, the Prime Minister received many questions but a lot of them were not answered, including the questions on the fight against corruption, the project to build a golf course in Ta Son Nhat Airport, etc.

Khoa complained that many NA deputies were absent from meetings. NA Chair Nguyen Sinh Hung also expressed dissatisfaction when many deputies went abroad during the NA session.

Chair of the NA Committee for Legal Affairs – Mr. Phan Trung Ly proposed to have specialized meetings on bills. The proposal was supported by the head of the Supreme People’s Procuracy – Mr. Nguyen Hoa Binh.

The 12th meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee began yesterday, December 24. During the session, the committee will approve the Ordinance on Mobile Police and devise its working program as well as international cooperative programs of NA agencies during 2014.

Lawmakers will also raise their opinions on a plan on the implementation of the Constitution and the committee’s draft report reviewing the enforcement of the Law on Organization of the National Assembly in 2011.

During the session, legislators are scheduled to deliberate the issuance of a resolution on the implementation of the Constitution, he stressed, adding that the resolution requires agencies to roll out plans to bring the legal document to fruition.
