In the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025 (QS WUR by Subject 2025), VNU Hanoi has made significant strides, with two subject groups and 12 disciplines included in the rankings. Among them, 10 out of 12 disciplines secured a spot in the global top 500.
The rankings highlight five disciplines that have been newly recognized, five that have improved in ranking, and one that has re-entered the rankings after a previous absence.
VNU Hanoi has also seen the return of two major subject groups to the rankings: Engineering & Technology (ranked 451-500) and Social Sciences & Management (ranked 501-550).
Among the university’s ranked disciplines, four have reached the top 400 globally, while a total of seven disciplines and subject groups have secured a place in the top 500.
A leading institution in Vietnam
VNU Hanoi continues to be the only university in Vietnam to be ranked in the fields of Sociology and Law & Legal Studies, further affirming its academic excellence and research impact.
The QS WUR by Subject 2025 rankings are based on five key evaluation criteria, each weighted differently depending on the subject area. These criteria include Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Citations per Paper, H-Index (measuring research productivity and impact), and International Research Network (assessing global research collaboration).
