VN treasures all-round partnership with Russia: Ambassador

Vietnam always values its comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia, Ambassador to Russia Nguyen Thanh Son has affirmed.

Meeting with Russian presidential foreign policy aide Yuri Victorovich Ushakov in Moscow on December 25, Son said that the Vietnamese Embassy is willing to closely coordinate with Russian ministries and sectors to actively implement agreements reached by their leaders and timely remove existing obstacles.

He also asked the Office of the Russian President and Ushakov to further support the integration and development of the Vietnamese community in Russia so that they can actively contribute to bilateral ties.

The diplomat suggested more favourable conditions be given to turn the Hanoi-Moscow Centre for Culture-Trade (Incentra) into a symbol of the two countries’ friendship.

For his part, Ushakov affirmed that Russia has high confidence in its comprehensive strategic partnership with the Southeast Asian country, adding that both sides need to seriously and responsibly realise the reached agreements.

He also agreed with Son’s proposals relating to the Vietnamese community and pledged to recommend President Vladimir Putin to support them.

Hanoi accelerates preparations for 132nd IPU Assembly

On December 27, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Tong Thi Phong chaired a meeting of the 132nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU)'s organisation board to review preparations for the event.

Phong, who is also head of the board, asked agencies to pool all resources for the event slated or March 28-April 1 in Hanoi.

The law maker requested members of the board to finalize specific plans on sightseeing programmes for delegates and hosting cultural and art events.

"It is essential to provide the delegations with updated information to make suitable schedules and ensure safety and security for them during their stay in Hanoi" Phong stressed.

Lao President hails court collaboration with Vietnam

Lao President Chummaly Saynhasone spoke highly of the fine Vietnam-Laos court cooperation while receiving Chief Judge of the Vietnamese Supreme People’s Court Truong Hoa Binh in Vientiane on December 26.

He expressed his wish that the two sides will boost their comprehensive collaboration, especially in training Lao court personnel.

Binh informed the host of the outcomes of the third court conference between border provinces of Vietnam , Laos and Cambodia held in Vientiane on December 25-26, saying that it affirmed the determination of the three courts to enhance transnational crime prevention and combat.

Regarding the future cooperation plans between the Vietnamese and Lao courts, he said that both sides will continue the exchange of delegations to share experience in judgment and organise professional training courses in Vietnam for Lao judges and court officials.

He affirmed that the Vietnamese Party, State, Government and people will always stand side by side with Laos to maintain and develop the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations.-

Lao localities wish to boost cooperation with HCM City

Lao Vice State President Bounnhang Volachit has expressed his wish that Ho Chi Minh City will boost comprehensive cooperation with Lao localities, contributing to deepening the special relations between the two countries.

He urged the city and the Lao capital of Vientiane to swiftly implement their agreements on finance, agriculture, tourism and trade during his reception in Vientiane on December 26 for HCM City’s delegation led by Vice Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Vo Van Thuong.

The HCM City official, on his part, updated the host on his talks with the Vientiane Governor, saying that the two cities have set forth a detail plan for their future cooperation.

HCM City will enhance its investment in Vientiane and other Lao localities, as a contribution to the effective and practical cooperation between the two nations, Thuong affirmed.

The HCM City delegation had a working visit to Laos from December 24-26.

Vietnamese, Lao provinces beef up ties

The northern province of Hoa Binh and Laos’ Luang Prabang province on December 26 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on promoting bilateral cooperation.

The document was inked during talks between Secretary of the Hoa Binh provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Council Bui Van Tinh and Khampheng Xaysompheng, Secretary of the Party Committee and Governor of Luang Prabang, who is on a working visit to the Vietnamese locality.

In the MoU, the two sides agreed to intensify friendship and collaboration in the spirit of respecting each other for mutual interests and following each country’s law and policies.

Priority will be given to the fields of defence, security, education, health, industry, trade, investment, tourism and culture.

They reached a consensus of resuming their twinning relationship signed between Ha Son Binh (now Hoa Binh) and Luang Prabang on March 6, 1979.

Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia courts promote cooperation

The courts of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia have agreed to increase the sharing of experience in preventing and fighting crimes by improving knowledge on legal issues and judgment in each country.

The agreement was reached during the third court conference between border provinces of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, which wrapped up in the Lao capital of Vientiane on December 26 after two days of sitting.

The conference issued a joint statement emphasising the need for the three countries to join hands in seeking measures to prevent cross-border crimes and boost mutually beneficial collaboration in line with their laws as well as international practice.

Over the past time, the nations signed bilateral treaties related to crime prevention, which are considered an important tool for their courts to perform tasks.
