During a regular press conference, Hang said that the ministry has ordered the Vietnamese embassy in the UK to contact local authorities and confirm the identity of the missing girls. The embassy is to carry out citizen protection measures should the report be true.
UK press reported last week that police officers were conducting searches for two Vietnamese girls, 14 and 15 years old, who were last seen getting into a taxi near York Minster, North Yorkshire, on July 16.
The foreign affairs ministry will provide constant updates on the case, the spokeswoman said.
Regarding Vietnamese citizen Tran Viet Van who lost his life during strikes by the Philippines’ army against terrorist group Abu Sayyaf last week, Hang said that the Vietnamese embassy in Manila was working closely with local authorities to repatriate Van’s remains to his family.
Hang also announced the latest foreign visit by Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue to Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand this month. Hue visited Indonesia from July 19 to 21 and will head to Australia on July 22 before beginning the last leg of his trip in New Zealand on July 26. The Deputy PM plans to meet with top leaders and the business community of the countries, the spokeswoman said.
