This issue was highlighted during a seminar attended by Vietnamese and Japanese IT experts in the field of digital content and software, which took place in Ha Noi this week.
The seminar was organised by the Trade Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in collaboration with the ASEAN-Japan Centre (AJC) and the Viet Nam Software Association (VINASA).
At the seminar, Bui Huy Son, Director of the Trade Promotion Agency, said the Politburo had recently issued a Resolution replacing a Directive, which was related to IT applications.
The Resolution rolls out specific orientations for the country's IT development until 2030, considering the field is an effective tool and important driving force for spurring the development of the knowledge-based economy and improving national competitiveness in the process of international integration.
The goal is to raise the capacity of applied research, development, manufacturing and supply of IT products and services in Viet Nam, so as to reach an advanced level globally. It is expected that Viet Nam will become a powerful IT hub by 2030.
Son said Vietnamese and Japanese businesses were being offered the most favourable conditions for cooperation and business as Japan already had many partnership agreements with Viet Nam.
Together with the bilateral legal framework, the two countries were now negotiating Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and ASEAN + 6 cooperation. This confirmed the legal framework and commitment of both countries to supporting economic and trade cooperation between the businesses of both countries.
Being known as the second largest investment and trading partner of Viet Nam, Son hoped that IT businesses of both countries would continue to enhance cooperation and investment in this field so as to make the sector grow further.
Yoshikumi Ohnishi, General Secretary of AJC, said Japan had organised game show events in Singapore and Tokyo, which had attracted 34 IT companies from ASEAN countries, of which five were from Viet Nam.
