Shrimp exports to China show drastic upturn after five years
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has targeted no drop in export value of agricultural products this year, even though the sector was hit hard by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic from the beginning of this year.
Vietnam's export value of wood and wood products reached US$1.53 billion in the first two months of this year, marking a year-on-year increase of 10.1 per cent, according to a report by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The export turnover of garment and textile products reached 5.3 billion USD in the first two months of 2020, down 3.5 percent year-on-year.
Though the Covid-19 epidemic has spread to Japan and South Korea, some local exporters to the two markets are still experiencing good results.
Exporters are seeing an increase in complexities when it comes to moving goods to the United States, amid global tensions and trade disputes with the world’s major powers.
The Trans Pacific Partnership will bring opportunities to Vietnam's businesses, especially those in the textile, garment and footwear sectors, but also barriers that they need to navigate to benefit.
