VietNamNet Bridge – The Civil Aviation Administration of Viet Nam (CAAV) has issued a plan for better management and prevention of theft of passengers' baggage and cargo, and to ensure aviation security.

The plan has been issued following an incident in which the personal belongings of a group of passengers going from Bangkok, Thailand, to Ha Noi by Vietjet Air last Saturday were stolen from a suitcase. The suitcase's lock had been broken.

The CAAV has been checking all regulations related to the process of receiving, delivering and transporting passengers' luggage, to add more necessary regulations. It aims to tighten management and assign detailed responsibility to organisations and individuals at different stages of the luggage-handling process.

The CAAV asked agencies in the aviation sector to check all employees who are connected to luggage and goods transporting services.

The CAAV also has set preventive security measures, such as the frisking of employees and checks of vehicles entering and leaving the areas designated for handling of passengers' luggage and goods, supervising the areas where the goods are received and delivered, and installing cameras and other technological tools in the areas.

The CAAV will join hands with the public security ministry to exchange information about persons who often steal and use tricks to steal passengers' goods.

Vietjet Air has worked with the Ha Noi Ground Services Company in the above-mentioned case, to prepare a plan to compensate the passengers based on Vietjet Air's policies.

Vietjet also sent a letter asking the Noi Bai Airport Security Centre and the CAAV to check the supervision system and the process of transporting passengers' luggage and goods.
