Therefore, tourists to Nam Dinh are often suggested to visit the old but memorable house to review the nation’s history. The house keeps many documents and artifacts about the personal life and revolutionary career of the former Party Chief as well as the history of the land – Hanh Thien Village.

The complex is located at Hamlet No.7, Hanh Thien Village, Xuan Hong Commune, Xuan Truong District. The village’s gate welcomes passers-by in a peaceful setting with red-tiled homes and vegetable gardens.

Like other houses nearby, Chinh’s home looks simple but charming with a tiled roof, brick yard, fish pond and orchard. Built in 1902, the commemorating house displays 30 documents in Chinese characters which have scientific values in the fields of history, geography, ethnicity, language, philosophy and biology.

Moreover, the house also displays a large horizontal lacquered board carved with the words ‘Ngoc ky am’ (Voice as pure as pearl).

There are also many interesting documents and old household tools and decorations preserved in their original state.

Despite standing for over one hundred years, the house is maintained and protected so that tourists have a sense of the general secretary at work in his living years. They will also have a chance to know more about old customs, traditional culture, lifestyle and architecture of Vietnamese in the last century. In 1994, the house was recognized as a national relic.

Chinh, born on February 9, 1907 at Hanh Thien Village, participated in the revolutionary cause from 1925. During 63 years of devoting his life to the revolution his name was linked with many milestones of the country.

He was not only an excellent strategist, but also a talented leader who led the Party and the whole nation successfully and fulfilled the national liberation goal, as well as constructing the country in the 20th century. He died on September 30, 1988 in Hanoi.
