VietNamNet Bridge - On March 4, hundreds of people of Cuu Quan village in Duc Thuong commune, Hoai Duc district, Hanoi grouped at the village’s ancient communal house to protest some local officials for selling the house’s beams made of sua wood for hundreds of million dong.
According to local people, part of the roof of the communal house was removed and four beams totaling 127.5kg were taken.
They also said that these village officials sold the rare wood for VND10 million ($500) per kilo.
Mr. Tran Van Thao, chief policeman of Duc Thuong commune, said that the wood was sold to a local man named Van, who transported the wood to somewhere. “The case has been transferred to the district police for investigation," Thao said.
The Cuu Quan communal house worships six chieftains. Some parts of the house was made by sua wood.
