Her rise can be attributed to her second-place finish in the recent women’s singles event at the Maldives International Challenge 2019, which was held during September.

Elsewhere, fellow Vietnamese player Nguyen Thuy Linh fell four places from 58th to 62nd in the latest rankings. This drop can be blamed on Thuy Linh’s absence from the Maldives tournament.

Thuy Linh is currently competing at the onoging Yuzu Indonesia Masters at Ken Arok Sports Hall in Malang.

In the first match of the women’s singles which took place on October 2, Thuy Linh enjoyed a wonderful day as she beat Lee Ying Ying of Malaysia, world No.94, with a score of 2-1.

The 22-year-old player is now set to face Sung Shuo Yun of Taiwan, world No.87, in the competition’s second round.

Thi Trang has regained her title as the nation’s top female badminton player after being surpassed by Thuy Linh two years ago.

The country’s top two Vietnamese female players are now aiming to secure a spot at the 2020 Olympic Games. VOV
