Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat of Vietnam (left) will compete at the Asia Fighting Championship in Singapore this weekend.

The world champion will compete against Chinese Guang Wan Huang in the men’s 60kg category match.

Nhat has won the world tournament seven times, while Guang’s current best result is the second place at the CTHM Invitational Tournament last year.

Nhat, however, just suffered two unexpected defeats at the Southeast Asian Games in Malaysia last month and the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which is ongoing in Turkmenistan.

Another Vietnamese in Singapore, Vo Van Dai, will fight in the men’s 63kg category against Thai representative Sampiak Tuanpe.

Other fighters will be Bardon Muse of the host country, Muhammad Ali Yaakub of Malaysia and Seung Bum Woo from South Korea.

The Asia Fighting Championship is being held by the World Muaythai Council and hosted by Singapore’s Amateur Muaythai Association for the first time.

It aims to unite different nationals through the provision of a professional platform to showcase muay talent across the world.
