Nguyen Tien Minh was defeated in the semi-finals of the Yonex USA International badminton tournament on December 5 (Hanoi time) in Orlando, Florida.
The Vietnamese player, ranked 46th in the world, lost 16-21, 10-21 to Emil Holst of Denmark, world number 67.
Holst then beat Yuhan Tan of Germany 21-16, 22-20 in the final and claimed the men's singles crown.
Minh and some other teammates will compete in the K&D Graphics/ YONEX Grand Prix in California, which will be held from December 8 to 12.
A bonus of $50,000 will be given to the most successful players.
