According to the law, a test case is a legal action whose purpose is to set a precedent. An example of a test case might be a legal entity who files a lawsuit to see if the court considers a certain law or a certain legal precedent applicable in specific circumstances. This is useful, for example, to later file similar lawsuits under similar circumstances.
Speaking at the launch ceremony in Ha Noi, head of the General Department under the Supreme People’s Court, Dao Thi Minh Thuy, said applying test cases was a milestone in the country’s judicial reform process.
The test cases page is expected to provide official information by the Supreme People’s Court on test cases to various groups, including residents, judges and People’s Jurors.
The information includes valid test cases, their sources and cancelled or replaced cases. Readers can leave comments or messages on the page, which would help the People’s Court improve test case-related activities in Viet Nam.
Also yesterday, the Supreme People’s Court announced the recognition of four test cases that the Judges’ Chambers had approved and would be used in courts at all levels in Viet Nam.
