VietNamNet Bridge – The Khmer sanctum of Ghositaram Pagoda in the southern province of Bac Lieu is the largest of its kind in Vietnam – 36.3 metres tall and spanning 427.5sq.m.

It took nine years to construct the marvel, which combines distinctive features of Theravada Buddhism of the Khmer and modern architecture.

It took artisans four years alone just to carve dozens of dragon around the tower on the top roof, and hundreds of different symbols of Theravada Buddhism inside and outside the structure.

The sanctum also included two flagpoles, two towers to contain remains of the dead, a crematorium and a wharf.
