Duyen, the first runner-up of Vietnam Miss Universe 2019, was one of 80 contestants participating in the beauty pageant, and was considered a hopeful for the contest’s title.
Mvlanuevaera of Venezuela predicted the Vietnamese contestant to win the pageant, whilst Philippine beauty website Sash Factor also named Duyen among top five, alongside other contestants from the Philippines, Colombia, Venezuela, and South Africa.
The 26-year-old girl, who stands at a height of 1.73 metres and measures 95-62-95, impressed the jury and audience by her outfit featuring Banh Tet, a traditional cake in the southern region. However, that’s not enough to help her enter the top 10 round.
Back to Miss Universe 2021, Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu of India was crowned as the winner in the grand finale. The two runners-up spots went to Nadia Ferreira of Paraguay and Lalela Mswane of South Africa.
Meanwhile, Nigerian representative Maristella Okpala was granted the Best National Costume sub-title.
