According to the order, signed on October 3 by Nguyen Anh Tuan, head of the ministry’s Price Management Department, airfares published on official websites or through other channels of domestic airlines must be fully listed to avoid misunderstandings among customers.

The order also quoted a decree guiding the adoption of the Pricing Law, noting that the listed prices of products and services must include all taxes and fees.

Besides this, Circular No.12 of the Ministry of Transport stipulates that service providers must publish their service fees for transporting passengers on domestic routes before offering the services.

Further, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) will amend a circular on service fees for transporting passengers on domestic routes, with more specific details on the listings.

One month earlier, Vietnam Airlines sent a dispatch to the finance ministry and CAAV, proposing the agencies request local airlines to strictly comply with prevailing regulations on airfare listing.

The national flag carrier said that the listed airfare must include all taxes and fees. The absence of any component in the listed airfare may cause misunderstandings among customers, thus affecting the competitiveness of airlines in the market.

In response to Vietnam Airlines’ petition, local low-cost carrier Vietjet said in its latest report to the agencies that its listing method under the form of net fares is still lawfull, compared with the current method applied by the national carrier. SGT
