VietNamNet Bridge – "Recycled bags" made from Vietnamese packages of animal feed are popular among young Japanese.
The bags are priced from 100 yen to nearly 13,000 yen depending on the size, shape and material. On online sites such as Amazon, the average price is $19 per product.
This kind of bag has been available in Japan for a year, attracting users for their convenience and uniqueness.
Yuki (right) created this trend. She said she came up with the idea of making this kind of bag when she saw animal feed packing at the Vietnam Festival in Yoyogi Park (Tokyo).
She chose a Vietnamese name “Tuan Tuan” as the brand for her products. She said Tuan is a popular name in Vietnam. “Tuan Tuan” is similar to the pronunciation of “taro taro” (sun) in Japanese.
