The first set saw Lai Ly Huynh lose against Zhao Xinxin, although Nguyen Thanh Bao played better against Chinese rival Wang Yang. Meanwhile, Nguyen Hoang Yen and Wang Linna were balanced in each move.

The Vietnamese trio made every effort to equalize the score in the second set.

The third set seemed to be dramatic, with Zhao Xinxin and Wang Linna outperforming Ly Huynh and Hoang Yen in the final minutes.

The national team took their second title after the three-hour game.

Vietnam sent six Xiangqi athletes to compete in the mixed team, men’s individual, and women’s individual at ASIAD 19. A silver medal in the mixed team class is the highest medal they have won at the Asian Games so far.

This is the third silver medal of the Vietnamese sports delegation at ASIAD 19. The two previous silver medals were obtained in shooting and gymnastics. Vietnam also snatched a gold medal in shooting.

As of 10 a.m. on October 2, Vietnam has obtained one gold, three silver, and 12 bronze medals, placing 17th in the medal tally.

On October 2, the Vietnamese sports delegation are scheduled to compete in nine sports - archery, canoe, weightlifting, badminton, sepak takraw, chess, athletics, kurash, and roller sports.

ASIAD 19 began in Hangzhou, China, on September 23, and the continental sport event is scheduled to last through to October 8. Vietnam has sent 337 athletes to compete in 31 out of 40 sports at the event.
