Ho Chi Minh City Women's Football Club faced a formidable challenge in the AFC Women's Champions League quarterfinals, going up against Abu Dhabi Country, a powerhouse team from the UAE with six international players from Asia, Europe, Africa, and South America.

The Vietnamese club found themselves trailing 3-0 at halftime, overwhelmed by the visitors' strength and speed.

However, the game took an incredible turn in the second half. Huynh Nhu and her teammates staged a stunning comeback, scoring five consecutive goals to secure a historic 5-4 victory.

It was one of the most remarkable comebacks in Asian women's football history, propelling them to the tournament’s semifinals.

A milestone for Southeast Asian football

This victory makes Ho Chi Minh City Women's Football Club the first Southeast Asian team to advance to the semifinals of the AFC Women's Champions League.

It marks a significant milestone not only for the club but for women’s football in Vietnam and the entire region.

Head coach Doan Kim Chi praised her players for their unwavering spirit and determination, emphasizing that the victory demonstrates Vietnamese women’s football’s potential on the international stage.

Despite making history, the team is determined to continue their journey with high aspirations for the next round.

After this unforgettable victory, Ho Chi Minh City Women's Football Club is setting its sights on the semifinals, scheduled for May 21.

They will face the winner of the clash between Urawa Red Diamonds (Japan) and Wuhan Jiangda (China).

The victory not only fuels their ambitions but also inspires the next generation of female footballers in Vietnam.
