Two universities in southern Vietnam - University of Finance and Marketing and Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry - have rolled out generous financial incentives, offering up to VND 500 million (approx. USD 20,000) for professors who join their faculty.

The University of Finance and Marketing (UFM) is applying a one-time recruitment bonus for individuals with academic titles or a doctoral degree who come to work at the school, regardless of their field of specialization.
Specifically, professors under the age of 50 will receive VND 500 million (USD 20,000), while those aged 50 to under 55 will receive VND 400 million (USD 16,000).
Associate professors under 50 receive VND 300 million (USD 12,000), and those aged 50 to under 55 receive VND 200 million (USD 8,000).
For new PhDs, the incentive is VND 100 million (USD 4,000) if they earned their degree abroad and VND 60 million (USD 2,400) if earned domestically, regardless of age.
Recipients of these incentives are required to commit to at least five years of service at the university. This policy also applies to those hired through annual recruitment rounds.
In addition to base salary and other income supplements, the university provides a monthly stipend of VND 5 million for professors, VND 4 million for associate professors, and VND 3 million for PhDs. UFM is currently seeking high-quality personnel for fields such as public administration, economic law, accounting, and economic management.
Meanwhile, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry (IUH) has also introduced a similar recruitment package. Professors are eligible for VND 300–500 million (USD 12,000–20,000), associate professors receive VND 350 million (USD 14,000), and PhDs receive VND 200–250 million (USD 8,000–10,000), with specific amounts based on individual qualifications.
Up to VND 300 million in direct bonuses
Other universities have also adopted competitive recruitment incentives.
At the University of Economics and Law under the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, professors receive VND 350 million (USD 14,000) upon joining, associate professors VND 250 million (USD 10,000), and PhDs VND 150 million (USD 6,000). Additionally, faculty members are awarded VND 150 million for achieving professor rank and VND 100 million for becoming associate professors.
At the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, also part of the Vietnam National University system, newly hired professors receive VND 200 million (USD 8,000), associate professors VND 150 million (USD 6,000), and PhDs VND 100 million (USD 4,000).
Similarly, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Food Industry offers VND 100 million for PhDs, VND 150 million for associate professors, and VND 200 million for professors.
Eligibility criteria include being under 55 years of age for men and under 50 for women, and holding a doctoral degree directly aligned with the recruitment position. Qualifications must be confirmed at the time of the first employment contract, and faculty members are required to serve at the institution for a minimum of five years.
At Nguyen Tat Thanh University, incoming PhDs receive VND 100 million, associate professors VND 150 million, and professors VND 200 million upon beginning their work.
