Vietnamese tennis players made a good start at the 2015 Asia U14 Tennis Championship, Division II, which opened in Ho Chi Minh City's Phu Tho Sports Centre on January 21.
Vo Hoang Hung of HCM City, Nguyen Van Phuong of Binh Duong, Tran Thi Thanh Truc of HCM City and Hoang Linh Chi of Ninh Thuan beat strong rivals to reach the quarter-finals.
Sixty-five young tennis players from 12 teams, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Maldives, as well as Nepal, Cambodia and Bhutan, are participating in the boys' and girls' singles and doubles events in the championship.
The tournament provides young Vietnamese players an opportunity to hone their skills and gain good records, and a chance to be selected to play in the tournament's Division 1 with strong international rivals.
The event will end on January 29.
