VietNamNet Bridge - As the summer holiday begins in late May, life-skill training centers have launched summer camp programs with very attractive offers.
English summer camps attracts parents and children
A center on Lang Road in Dong Da district in Hanoi will organize five Super Junior summer camps this summer, lasting four days each.
Le Quynh Hoa, a parent in Cau Giay, said she plans to send her twins to summer camp, to be set up in a resort in Hoa Binh province, because the cost is reasonable, VND8 million for each child.
She sends her kids to summer camps every year. “I feel that my kids lack life skills, which are not taught at school.”
Hoa also hopes that by attending summer camps, her kids would have opportunities to make new friends.
English summer camps also draw special attention from students and their parents, though most of the courses are expensive.
One training center has launched an eight-week English summer camp which aims to help children practice English. It has committed to helping students improve communication skills, creativity and ‘think in English’, a preparation step to become a ‘global citizen’. However, the fee is relatively high at VND26 million.
However, another center offers an English course with even higher tuition of VND30 million for only four weeks.
Apollo is one of the English centers well known to Hanoi parents. A four-week English course at the center this year costs VND30 million.
Vietnamese parents now can spend thousands of dollars to send them to foreign summer camps as they believe the trips can help the children improve foreign language skills.

Hieu Thao, a parent in Dong Da district in Hanoi, said she would spend VND8 million on a four-day summer camp for her daughter and son.
Thao admitted that VND8 million is equal to her monthly salary, which is a big amount of money for her family. However, she is still willing to pay to help her children have a good time.
“My children are excited about the summer camp. My daughter has read eight chapters of Harry Potter and she is willing to play a Quidditch match,” she said.
“My son is looking forward to playing and flying with trees,” she added.
