The Party and State of Cuba has presented the Order of Jose Marti to visiting Party General Secretary and President To Lam in recognition of his contributions to the development of the solidarity and friendship between the Parties, States, and peoples of Vietnam and Cuba.
First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez respectfully presented and pinned the Order on the vest of the Vietnamese leader at a ceremony held at the Palace of the Revolution in Havana on September 26.
At the ceremony, To Lam thanked the Party and State of Cuba for their recognition of his contributions, and emphasized that the honour vividly reflects the importance that the Cuban Party, State, and people place on the special friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba which has been nurtured by the revolutionary leaders Jose Marti, Ho Chi Minh, and Fidel Castro, as well as the generations of leaders and people from both nations over time.
He expressed his deep appreciation for the strong support and heartfelt assistance that the Cuban Party, State, and people have provided to the Vietnamese people in their past struggle for independence in the past, as well as in the current cause of national construction and defense.
Vietnam expects to enhance the effectiveness of comprehensive cooperation with Cuba, worthy of the glorious and beautiful tradition of relations between the two countries, for the practical benefits of the two peoples and the ideals of building socialism, he said.
The leader reaffirmed Vietnam’s consistent stance in solidarity with the just struggle of the heroic Cuban people, and believed that the Cuban people, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba, will overcome all challenges, firmly protect the revolutionary gains, and continue to achieve even greater victories in their revolutionary cause.
