The HCMC Conservatory of Music will host an “Asian melodies” concert with the participation of traditional music artists of Vietnam and Korean art troupe Deobureosup on Friday night.

Previously, the HCMC Conservatory of Music organized some joint performances for Vietnamese and Korean artists, including “Vietnam – Korea Joint Composition Concert” and a solo concert by soprano Cho Hye Ryong.

The art troupe Deobureosup which was established in 2014 is known for both traditional and contemporary music styles via the performances of instruments of Gayageum (a traditional Korean zither-like string instrument), Geomungo (a traditional Korean stringed musical instrument of the zither family with both bridges and frets), Sogeum and Piri flutes. 

The troupe had a performance in Hue in 2015 and was named at many music awards in 2015 and 2016.

Some Vietnamese artists joining in the show include Mai Thanh Son, head of the foreign affairs office of the HCMC Conservatory of Music and a two-stringed Vietnamese traditional musical player who has attended many conferences and concerts in France, Switzerland, Germany, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, and U.A.E; Nguyen Hong My Linh, young talent award recipient and silver medal winner at a festival for professional art schools nationwide in 2010; and Le Thi Thu Thao, a graduate of monochord of the HCMC Conservatory of Music.

The concert will take place at 8 p.m. on Friday at 112 Nguyen Du Street in HCMC’s District 1. 

VIP and standard tickets are priced at VND200,000 and VND100,000 respectively while students enjoy free entrance.
