On January 29, 2025, Taste Atlas released its list of the top-rated coffees worldwide, with Vietnamese iced coffee (ca phe sua da) securing eighth place with a rating of 4.3 out of 5 stars.
The ranking was based on votes from food enthusiasts and coffee lovers who have tasted or expressed interest in these drinks.
Vietnamese iced coffee earns global praise

According to Taste Atlas, Vietnamese iced coffee is a refreshing combination of dark-roast Robusta coffee, sweetened condensed milk, and ice.
The drink is traditionally brewed using a phin filter, which allows the coffee to slowly drip, creating a strong and bold flavor.
The platform also highlighted the dominance of Robusta beans in Vietnam, noting that while Arabica beans are more popular worldwide, Vietnam’s high-caffeine Robusta beans provide a stronger, slightly bitter taste with hints of caramelized sugar.
“When combined with sweetened condensed milk, Robusta creates a perfect balance. Using Arabica beans, on the other hand, results in a slightly sour taste that doesn’t pair as well with condensed milk,” Taste Atlas explained.
Egg coffee and yogurt coffee also make the list

Egg coffee, another Vietnamese specialty, was also featured in the rankings. Known for its rich, creamy texture, this unique drink combines whipped egg yolk, condensed milk, and bold Vietnamese coffee, resulting in a smooth and velvety cup with a hint of sweetness.
Another standout Vietnamese beverage recognized by Taste Atlas was yogurt coffee. This drink combines Vietnamese coffee, sweetened condensed milk, yogurt, and crushed ice, creating a refreshing and tangy twist on traditional coffee.
Founded in 2015, Taste Atlas is a well-known food ranking platform based in Zagreb, Croatia. The website compiles a map of traditional dishes and beverages from around the world.
According to Matija Babic, the founder of Taste Atlas, all rankings are based on expert reviews and public ratings, ensuring credibility and accuracy.
Vietnamese coffee’s inclusion in these global rankings further cements the country’s status as one of the world’s top coffee destinations.
