American Airlines flight 5342, carrying 60 passengers and four crew members, collided mid-air with a Black Hawk military helicopter transporting three service members. This marks the most significant aviation disaster involving a commercial aircraft in the U.S. since 2009.
American Airlines has yet to release the names of the crew and passengers who perished. However, some victims have been identified through social media posts and interviews with their families and friends.
President Trump’s administration has vowed to conduct a swift and thorough investigation into the cause of the tragedy. Trump suggested that the accident may have been caused by the military helicopter’s crew or air traffic control at Ronald Reagan National Airport.
