Two Vietnamese male and female players, Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son and Bach Ngoc Thuy Duong have delivered impressive performances at the ongoing 2018 Chess Olympiad in Batumi, Georgia.

In the sixth round on September 30, Vietnam’s male team held host Georgia 2 to a draw with a score of 2-2 thanks to Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son’s victory over Maghalashvili (Elo 2508).

Grandmasters Le Quang Liem (Elo 2715) and Nguyen Anh Khoi (Elo 2463) drew with their rivals Paichadze (Elo 2564) and Beradze (Elo 2495), respectively, while Tran Tuan Minh (Elo 2491) was defeated by Sanikidze (Elo 2497).

Truong Son became the best Vietnamese chess player after 5 out of 6 rounds of the competition with 3 wins and 2 draws 

In the next round, the male team in 25th position, will meet the Canadian team, ranked 28th.

The Vietnamese female team had a successful day in the sixth round with a 4-0 victory over their opponents from Wales.

Notably, as the winner of all four rounds, young chess player Bach Ngoc Thuy Duong was considered the best Vietnamese female chess player at the competition.

 In 21st position, the team will face Jordan, ranked 85th, in the seventh round.
