In the semifinals, Ha Thi Linh (seeded No. 5) faced Thananya Somnuek (Thailand, No. 1 seed). The two previously clashed in 2023, with Thananya Somnuek emerging victorious.
Despite her strong determination, Ha Thi Linh struggled against her more experienced and physically dominant opponent. She found it difficult to score points, ultimately losing by a unanimous decision (5-0), with judges scoring the fight 29/28, 30/26, 30/27, 29/27, and 30/27 in favor of Thananya Somnuek.
With this result, Ha Thi Linh clinched the bronze medal - Vietnam’s only podium finish at the tournament and her highest-ever achievement on the world stage.
