The Miss World Organization has announced that India has been chosen as the host country for the highly anticipated 71st Miss World 2023 pageant.
The decision to award India with this prestigious honor recognizes the nation's rich cultural heritage, its commitment to promoting diversity, and its passion for empowering women, the Miss World Organization wrote on its webpage on June 8.
So far, as many as 130 countries have confirmed to send contestants to the pageant this year.
Phuong, 23, beat 36 other contestants on the final night of the Miss World Vietnam 2022 pageant held on August 12, 2022, in Quy Nhon city, claiming top prize.
The girl stands at 1.70 metres tall and measures 82-63-92 cm. She currently works as an emcee, appearing in numerous television programmes.
In recent years, Vietnamese representatives have gained some of the top prizes at the Miss World pageant. Indeed, Luong Thuy Linh reached the Top 12 in 2019 and Do Thi Ha was placed among the top 13 finalists back in 2021.
Miss World 2023 will be the 71st edition of the pageant which is set to take place in India this December.
India had ever hosted the beauty contest in 1996. During the 70-year history of the world pageant, Indian beauties had been crowned Miss World for six times. Most recently Indian representative Manushi Chhillar won 2017 Miss World title.
