VietNamNet Bridge – Artworks by three outstanding contemporary Vietnamese artists will be showcased at "Filters" exhibition in HCM City on October 28-29.

Featured artists include sculptor Bui Hai Son and painters Nguyen Quang Vinh and Le Kinh Tai. All are graduates of the HCM City Fine Arts University.

They will show 30 large-scale works which depict the vibrancy of Vietnamese culture and lifestyle.

Son, 58, will present Originarium (The Origin), sculptures with images of rice seeds in wood and various types of metal to send a message about "finding the origin", according to a press release from urbanArt, a city-based art consulting firm that supports artists through representation, marketing, career development and exhibition opportunities.

The An Giang Province-based artist has shown his work in group exhibitions and fine arts festivals at home and abroad, including the Miyazaki International Exhibition of Contemporary Sculpture in Japan.

Vinh's main theme is "The Return", comprising paintings in oil and sand which reflect the progress of discovering the inner self.

Born in 1963 in Thai Nguyen Province, Vinh obtained a master's degree from the Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute in 1993. He is a lecturer at the city's Fine Arts University.

His works were displayed at the exhibition "Lecturers of HCM City University of Fine Arts" in Paris in 2010.

Tai, a native of Da Nang, will show his collection Reflexivity, using human faces with animal appearances to express his vision of life and the pursuit of happiness.

The 48-year-old artist has participated in many group exhibitions worldwide, including Singapore, South Korea and the US.

"Filters: Viet Nam Contemporary Art Exhibition" is part of a project launched by urbanArt to introduce outstanding artists representing Viet Nam's contemporary art to the local and international community.

The exhibition will be held Oct 28-29 from 9am – 9pm at the Gem Centre in District 1. Tickets are VND250,000 (US$11).

A preview will be held from 4pm-7pm on October 27 with tickets costing VND3.6 million ($160) for two. Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to children in need. All tickets are available at www.ticketbox.vn.
