Vietnamese 15-year-old contestant Bui Thao Huong has won the special prize at the 21st Kyushu International Music Contest, in Kumamoto, Japan. 


Kyushu Music Contest is a prestigious international music competition, taking place once a year, with the participation of 1,200 candidates worldwide with many categories. Particularly, the piano category has 700 participants.

This year, the competition took place within eight days with serious judging by the jury, who are leading music professors in Japan.

Bui Thao Huong is a student of TH school. In addition she is studying at the Faculty of Piano, the Vietnam National Academy of Music, under the guidance of Professor and People's Teacher Tran Thu Ha.

Previously, Thao Huong won silver medal at the Asian Festival held in Singapore (2014) and another silver at the International Piano Festival held in the Republic of Korea (2018).

Along with Bui Thao Huong, four other Vietnamese contestants at the competition also won prizes, including two silver and two bronze prizes.
