Armed forces of Vietnam and the United States need to continue effectively cooperating in disaster response, search and rescue, and humanitarian assistance to reinforce the bilateral defence ties, said Senior Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Minh on June 19.

Minh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, told American Major General Michael Stencel, the Adjutant General of the Oregon National Guard during their meeting in Hanoi.
Together with the development of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Partnership, the two countries have seen good progress in the bilateral defence ties in multiple areas, the Vietnamese military official said.
He expected that the visit of Major General Michael Stencel will contribute to the enhancement of the two nations’ relations and armed forces in the time ahead.
Thanking Minh for his reception, Stencel informed his host on results of his meeting with the National Committee for Incident, Disaster Response, and Search and Rescue to review cooperation between the two sides.
The two sides have been working together in information sharing and search and rescue exercises, the US officers said.-VNA
