Vietnam, Turkiye to boost multifaceted cooperation hinh anh 1

Erdoğan spoke highly of Chinh’s visit, which takes place at the time when Vietnam and Türkiye are celebrating the 45th anniversary of their diplomatic ties, saying it opens up a new era for the relations.

The President affirmed that Türkiye attaches importance to developing the multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam, and appreciated the valuable support from the Vietnamese Government and people to his country in overcoming the consequences of the February 2023 earthquake.

The leaders consented to reinforce cooperation between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the ruling Justice and Development Party of Türkiye as well as between the governments and parliaments of the two countries.

They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of shared concern, and emphasised the importance of observing international law, and ensuring peace, security and development in the two regions and around the world.

Both held that ample room remains for the two countries to boost their economic ties, and more attention is needed to further tap the huge potential.  

Erdoğan affirmed that Türkiye wants to enhance trade and investment cooperation with Vietnam, adding a number of Turkish groups have operated successfully in the Southeast Asian nation.

The President also suggested the two countries expand collaboration in tourism, health care and energy, and pledged to instruct ministries and agencies to realise the contents agreed during Chinh’s visit, including the organisation of the 8th meeting of the Vietnam - Türkiye Intergovernmental Committee and the fifth political consultation between the two foreign ministries in the first half of 2024.

Chinh called on Türkiye to facilitate the access of Vietnam's major products like footwear, farm produce ad aquatic products to supermarket chains and distribution system in the country, and welcomed Turkish groups and enterprises to invest in areas such as hydrogen development, infrastructure and logistics.

The leaders also agreed to strengthen cooperation in other areas, including the Halal industry, tourism, agriculture, education and training, and enhance people-to-people exchange.
                   
Chinh used the occasion to suggest Erdoğan direct relevant Turkish agencies to create more favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live and work in the country.

Regarding regional and international issues, the PM announced that Vietnam will provide 500,000 USD through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) as relief aid to Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
         
Chinh conveyed the invitation from Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Vo Van Thuong to the Turkish President to pay an official visit to Vietnam next year. Erdoğan accepted the invitation with pleasure.

Vietnam, Türkiye agree to work for 4 billion USD in two-way trade

Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Vice President of the Republic of Türkiye Cevdet Yilmaz agreed on the need to increase practical, effective economic cooperation activities in order to soon bring the two-way trade to 4 billion USD at their talks in Ankara on November 29.

Yilmaz called Chinh’s official visit, the first by a Vietnamese PM to Türkiye, an event of historic importance as it is taking place at the 45th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic relations (1978-2023).

He affirmed that Türkiye considers Vietnam one of the top priority partners in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), especially in the fields of economy, trade, and investment, national defence-security, and tourism.

Chinh expressed his joy at socio-economic achievements Türkiye has achieved recently, notably its G20 membership and growing role and influence in the region, saying he believes that Türkiye will grow further in the coming time, thereby opening up new opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.

The two sides informed each other about the political and socio-economic situation in their respective countries, and exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutual concern.   
 
Both affirmed their desire and determination to promote the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries for the sake of their people, and for peace, stability and development in the two regions and the world, aiming to soon upgrade the relationship in the near future.

They agreed to further consolidate and strengthen the good political and diplomatic ties, as well as cooperation between the two ruling Parties, coordinate and support each other at international forums and organisations, and increase delegation exchanges at all levels, especially the high-level ones.  
 
Chinh invited Yilmaz to pay an official visit to Vietnam in 2024, which, he said, is expected to contribute to bringing the bilateral cooperation to a new height.  Yilmaz accepted the invitation with pleasure and looked forward to making the visit soon.

The PM told his host that the Vietnam Red Cross Society will continue to send 14.6 billion VND (601,566 USD) raised by individuals and organisations at home to support Turkish people in overcoming the consequences of the earthquake in February.
 
Yilmaz appreciated the support from the Vietnamese Government and people to Türkiye in dealing with natural disaster consequences, and affirmed that Türkiye stands ready to assist Vietnam when facing difficulties. The Turkish side also thanked Vietnam for approving the opening of the Turkish Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.

For economic cooperation, Yilmaz said it is growing positively, towards a more balanced manner. To raise the trade ties, the two sides agreed to open door for each other's agricultural products, and others of their strengths, accelerate free trade agreement negotiations at the eighth Inter-governmental Committee meeting, and increase cargo flights.

In the field of Halal, Türkiye pledged to help Vietnam develop the industry, thereby contributing to raising the bilateral trade turnover.

Chinh stressed that Türkiye is Vietnam’s largest investor from the Middle East, with a total registered capital of nearly 1 billion USD, and promised all possible conditions for Turkish groups and businesses to invest in the Southeast Asian nation in such priority areas as industrial production, high-tech agriculture, consumption, green economy, and innovation.

Yilmaz lauded the success of Vietur, a consortium led by a Turkish company, at the Long Thanh international airport project and expressed his wish that the sides will make greater efforts to improve the efficiency of investment cooperation in the time ahead.

The two sides also consented to boost cooperation in defence industry, step up information exchange, and enhance collaboration in crime combat, technical training and experience sharing in search and rescue and relief efforts.

Regarding tourism cooperation, the two leaders concurred to promote information exchange, participate in major international tourism events in respective countries, and consider simplifying visa procedures to further facilitate travelling.

Both sides said they are ready to share knowledge, increase exchanges and foster cooperation in other potential fields like agriculture, renewable energy, science and technology, innovation, digital transformation.

Chinh proposed that the Turkish side consider employing more Vietnamese workers in projects with Turkish enterprises as contractors.

The two agreed to hold the next meeting of the Joint Economic Commission in the first quarter of 2024 to review and remove obstacles to specific cooperation projects, accelerate negotiations and sign important cooperation documents in defence-security, labour and agriculture.

Chinh suggested the Turkish Government create more favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community there to integrate into the host society, contributing to the development of Türkiye as well as the bilateral relations.

After the talks, host and guest witnessed the signing of a number of cooperation documents in different spheres, and co-chaired a press conference to announce the results of the talks.

The document included the MoU on Agriculture and Forestry Cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam and the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, another on cooperation between the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam and the Diplomacy Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye, and the Letter of Intent on Cooperation between Vietnam Airlines and Turkish Airlines.

PM Pham Minh Chinh meets with Speaker of Turkish Grand National Assembly

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a meeting with Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Numan Kurtulmus in Ankara on November 29 (local time) as part of his official visit to Türkiye.

Speaker Kurtulmus highly appreciated the historical significance of PM Chinh's official visit, especially at a time when Vietnam and Türkiye are celebrating the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

Congratulating Vietnam on its achievements in socio-economic development, the Speaker noted with satisfaction the two countries’ active cooperation as well as potential for collaboration in the economy, trade, science-technology and defence industry.

PM Chinh, for his part, expressed his joy with the development in the two countries’ ties in recent times, affirming that Vietnam wishes to consolidate and strengthen comprehensive cooperation with Türkiye on all channels of the Party, Government, National Assembly and people-to-people exchange, thereby contributing to deepening the relations between the two nations.

Also at the meeting, the two sides discussed and agreed on numerous measures to enhance the effectiveness of cooperation between the two countries and parliaments in particular, including all-level delegation exchanges and education-training, especially in language, to improve mutual understanding between the two peoples.

The PM took the occasion to convey the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue to invite Speaker Kurtulmus to visit Vietnam. The Speaker accepted the invitation with pleasure and expressed his wish to pay the visit in 2024.

Regarding parliamentary cooperation, the two sides agreed to increase contact and exchanges between the two national assemblies’ committees, friendship parliamentarians’ groups and young parliamentarians’ groups to share experience in law-making, monitoring and decision-making on important issues of the country.

They also concurred to strengthen and support each other at multilateral parliamentary forums such as Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), promote the two governments to effectively implement bilateral commitments and agreements

Both sides also discussed regional and international issues of common concern. PM Chinh shared Vietnam’s stance on the settlement of conflicts by peaceful measures through dialogue.

PM meets leaders of Turkish groups in Ankara

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received leaders of Hayat Holding and Turkish Airlines in Ankara on November 29 (local time) as part of the Vietnamese leader’s official visit to Türkiye.

Hayat Holding, a multinational group specialising in such areas as consumer goods, furniture and logistics, among others, has been operating 41 factories in 16 countries.

In Vietnam, the group has opened factories in the southern provinces of Binh Duong and Binh Phuoc, with one worth 250 million USD inaugurated in Binh Phuoc in March 2022.

The leader of Hayat Holding spoke highly of the Vietnamese investment environment, especially the government’s support to businesses, and expressed his hope that the country will step up the fight against counterfeit, low-quality goods, smuggling, and trade fraud so that the group’s high-quality products can serve domestic consumers more.

He noted his wish to coordinate with medical facilities in Vietnam to introduce the group's products to newborn care in the Southeast Asian nation.

Chinh lauded Hayat Holding’s operation results over the past time and expressed his belief that that good relations, mutual trust and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Türkiye will create a firm foundation for their businesses to expand operations.

Vietnam will enhance the prevention and control of trade fraud in the time ahead, and welcomes Hayat Holding to coordinate with Vietnamese units to improve child care in the country, he said.

Vietnam is promoting infrastructure development, including transport infrastructure and logistics, to facilitate production and business, he said, suggesting Hayat Holding continue its cooperation with potential Vietnamese partners, expand the export market for its products made in Vietnam, work as a bridge to bring potential investors in and outside Türkiye to Vietnam, and transfer technologies to Vietnamese firms to help them integrate deeply in regional and global production chains.

The leader of Turkish Airlines, which is operating direct flights between Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City and Istanbul, expressed his hope to expand cooperation in Vietnam not only in passenger transportation but also in cargo transportation and others.
 
Chinh lauded the signing of the letter of intent signed by Turkish Airlines and Vietnam Airlines on this occasion, and highlighted Vietnam’s favourable conditions for the aviation sector.

The PM suggested the Turkish national flag carrier foster cooperation and closely coordinate with its Vietnamese counterpart, as well as relevant ministries and agencies of Vietnam to promote the land and people of the two countries, thus spurring tourism development in both nations.

The Vietnamese government commits to always facilitate tourism activities between the two countries in line with legal regulations, he affirmed.

PM meets Vietnamese community in Türkiye

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Türkiye and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Ankara on November 29 (local time) within the framework of his official visit to the country.

PM Chinh shared he had proposed the Turkish side continue creating more favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community to continue living and working in the country, making positive contributions to its development as well as friendship between the two countries.

He affirmed that overseas Vietnamese (OVs) are an integral part and a resource of the nation, and the Party and State always pay attention to, care for, and support them to stabilise, integrate into the host society, preserve Vietnamese language and cultural identity, and encourage and create favourable conditions for them to actively contribute to the nation building and safeguarding cause.

He expressed his hope that Vietnamese people in Türkiye continue believing in the leadership of the Party and State, and coordinating closely with the embassy to become a firm bridge for the bilateral friendship.

He also asked the embassy to better OV affairs, pay attention to the material and spiritual lives of OVs, and soon establish an OV association in Türkiye.

He told the Vietnamese community that during his visit, the two sides agreed to lift the Vietnam-Türkiye relations to a new height, which will be a foundation for the OV community to continue growing.

There are currently more than 200 Vietnamese people living and working in Türkiye.

Türkiye considers Vietnam top priority economic partner in Asia-Pacific: Minister

Vietnam is Türkiye’s top priority economic partner in the Asia-Pacific, affirmed Turkish Minister of Trade Omer Bolat at his meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Ankara on November 29.

Chinh, who is on an official visit to the country, proposed the Turkish ministry and the minister himself continue to coordinate with relevant departments and sectors of both countries to promote a number of specific measures, which include studying the early initiation of negotiations for the Vietnam- Türkiye free trade agreement at an appropriate time.

Suggesting the organisation of the 8th meeting of the countries’ inter-governmental committee in Ankara in 2024, he emphasised a need to step up trade promotion and investment activities between Vietnamese and Turkish enterprises and localities. It is also necessary to open up markets, create conditions for each country's strong export products to penetrate each other's markets, and lift anti-dumping measures for their goods and services.

For his part, Bolat said the PM’s visit to Türkiye this time is a significant milestone in the celebration of the nations’ 45-year diplomatic relations and will boost effective economic cooperation between the sides.

The minister noted following the initial success of their investment projects, more and more Turkish corporations and businesses are interested in the Vietnamese market. This is especially true in Türkiye’s strong areas like construction, industrial manufacturing, and consumer goods.

Bolat also informed his guest of a plan to send a Turkish business delegation to Vietnam next year.
