VietNamNet Bridge – Overseas Vietnamese athlete Truong Mai Nhat Linh will represent Vietnam at the 2013 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships, to be held in Ukraine from August 28 to September 1.
Linh was drawn into Group C for the individual championship’s qualifying round, competing in clubs, ribbon, hoop, and ball.
The 17-year-old girl is currently living in Odessa, Ukraine, and is a leading light in Vietnamese gymnastics.
Her tournament preparations were built around registering to participate in the 2013 FIG World Cup in Belarus last April and completing one month of intensive training in Russia.
The championships will be contested by 300 athletes representing 50 of the world’s countries and territories, including traditional gymnastics powerhouses like Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Spain, Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Armenia.
Southeast Asian athletes from Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam will also participate in the event.
