The Vietnamese sports delegation is aiming for medals in shooting, boxing, and weightlifting at the Paris Olympics 2024, with a strong team of 16 athletes representing the country.
The send-off ceremony for the Vietnamese sports delegation to the Paris 2024 Olympics was held on the evening of July 17 in Hanoi.
The event gathered athletes who have qualified for the Olympics, including badminton players Thuy Linh and Duc Phat, swimmer My Tien, archers Quoc Phong and Anh Nguyet, judoka Hoang Thi Tinh, canoeist Nguyen Thi Huong, rower Pham Thi Hue, and weightlifter Trinh Van Vinh.
Additionally, five athletes - shooters Trinh Thu Vinh and Le Thi Mong Tuyen, boxers Vo Thi Kim Anh and Ha Thi Linh, and swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang - are currently training abroad and will join the delegation directly in Paris according to their competition schedules.
During the ceremony, badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh made a solemn pledge: "I promise to participate with a spirit of solidarity and friendship, embodying the Vietnamese love for peace, respecting local customs, and competing with the highest spirit of sportsmanship to bring glory to our nation."
The Vietnamese sports delegation is set to depart for Paris on July 23. All visa procedures for the delegation members have been completed, and their Olympic accreditation will be activated upon arrival in France.
Previously, the Vietnamese sports delegation was established with 39 members, including 16 athletes and 16 coaches. The head of the delegation is Dang Ha Viet, Director of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training. The flag bearers for the delegation at the Paris 2024 Olympic Opening Ceremony will be badminton player Le Duc Phat and archer Do Thi Anh Nguyet.
At the Paris 2024 Olympics, held from July 26 to August 11, the Vietnamese sports delegation will be represented by 16 athletes in various disciplines:
- Archery: Do Thi Anh Nguyet, Le Quoc Phong
- Athletics: Tran Thi Nhi Yen
- Badminton: Nguyen Thuy Linh, Le Duc Phat
- Boxing: Ha Thi Linh, Vo Thi Kim Anh
- Canoeing: Nguyen Thi Huong
- Cycling: Nguyen Thi That
- Rowing: Pham Thi Hue
- Shooting: Trinh Thu Vinh, Le Thi Mong Tuyen
- Swimming: Nguyen Huy Hoang, Vo Thi My Tien
- Weightlifting: Trinh Van Vinh
- Judo: Hoang Thi Tinh
Among these athletes, Tran Thi Nhi Yen and Vo Thi My Tien received special exemptions to participate.
