VietNamNet Bridge – Striker Nguyen Cong Phuong has been listed alongside Mustafa Amini of U23 Australia and Chanathip Songkrasin from Thailand in the top 16 goal-scorers at the final round of the 2016 Asian U23 Football Championship (AFC).

He scored four goals at the qualification and contributed greatly to helping U23 Vietnam enter the AFC final round.

Cong Phuong, 20, plays as a forward for Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) F.C. He is a product of HAGL – Arsenal JMG Academy. Phuong was promoted to HAGL F.C. first team in 2015.

He captained U19 Vietnam at 2014 AFC U-19 Championship. Nicknamed "Vietnamese Messi"by fan and media due to his playing style and body physic, Phuong is one of the most promising football talent in Vietnam.

Phuong is about to go to Japan to play for Mito HollyHock Club in Japan's J2 League.
