Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court Truong Hoa Binh and his Singaporean counterpart Sundaresh Menon have agreed to soon sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the two supreme courts to lay a firm foundation for partnership activities.

The future cooperative activities are expected to cover visit
exchange, personnel training, IT application in court activities, and
the joint organisation of international conferences, it was heard during
the officials’ meeting in Singapore , which formed part of Truong
Hoa Binh’s working visit from January 4-6.
The
two sides agreed to form groups of judges who will work together to draw
out cooperation areas and activities and table them to the two chief
judges for approval on the sidelines of the upcoming ASEAN Chief
Justices’ Meeting.
They concurred that setting
up and fostering bilateral ties between the two courts is crucial in the
context that bilateral strategic partnership is growing in all aspects.
The Supreme Court of Singapore and the Supreme
People’s Court of Vietnam are members of a number of justice forums,
including the Asia-Pacific Chief Justices Conference and ASEAN Chief
Justices’ Meeting.
During the visit, the Vietnamese
official attended the launching ceremony of Singapore ’s Legal Year
2015 and the inauguration of the Singapore International Commercial
Court .
He attended a banquet hosted by Singaporean President Tony Tan Keng Yam, who voiced his support to the establishment and development of bilateral partnership between the two Supreme Courts.
