Professor Tran Xuan Bach, a 41-year-old faculty member at Hanoi Medical and Pharmacy University, has been awarded the 2025 Global Health Innovation Leadership Award at the 16th Annual Conference in Atlanta, USA.
The announcement was made by the Vietnam Young Physicians Association on February 23. Professor Bach, who also serves as the association’s Vice President, was recognized for his groundbreaking contributions to healthcare innovation.
A distinguished career in medical research
Professor Bach was named Vietnam’s youngest Associate Professor at 32 and the youngest full Professor in the medical field at 39.
In 2023, he was included in Clarivate’s list of the world’s top 1% most-cited scientists, highlighting his significant influence in global medical research.
The Global Health Innovation Leadership Award, presented by the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH), honors scientists who develop and implement transformative initiatives that improve public health, particularly in low-income countries.
Professor Bach was recognized for his pioneering work in health economics, healthcare systems, and digital health technologies, which have helped expand access to medical services for vulnerable populations.
His research has focused on cost-effective medical models, optimizing healthcare systems, and enhancing global pandemic preparedness in developing nations.
A global leader in healthcare innovation
In 2023, Professor Bach was also honored with the Outstanding Research Award by ISPOR, the world’s largest association for health economics and outcomes research.
The Global Health Innovation Leadership Award has previously been given to distinguished professors from top universities in the United States. In 2023, it was awarded to Professor Brittany Seymour, Associate Dean at Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
Based in Washington, D.C., the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) includes nearly 200 universities and educational institutions worldwide. The organization collaborates to address critical global health challenges through research, education, and policy development.
Professor Bach’s award further solidifies Vietnam’s growing influence in the global medical research community.
