Vietnam’s unique 'tiny desert' road

In the central province of Binh Thuan, there is a road known as the "sub-Saharan desert" - a place that combines the sea and desert, which is praised as one of the most beautiful roads in Vietnam.

Bau Trang is a large natural freshwater lake covered by immense sand dunes about 60km from the center of Phan Thiet city, Binh Thuan province. This is also the name of the Mui Ne - Bau Trang - Phan Ri Cua route, which is known as the most beautiful coastal road in Vietnam.

This 40km road, which was inaugurated in 2015, is surrounded by vast white sand dunes and winding bends, creating an impressive beauty.

Dubbed the "sub-Saharan desert" of Binh Thuan, viewed from above, the entire road is covered with white sand.

To admire Bau Trang to the fullest, visitors should seek high places, and climb up the sand dunes to observe and enjoy the panorama.

The dry season will be the best time to travel on this route. Because the weather is hot, visitors should come in the morning or in late afternoon to catch the sunset.

Visitors can challenge themselves by riding a motorbike on the sand, or sitting in a jeep. The rental for a 6-seater jeep is about VND 500,000, while the rent for a motorbike is about VND 300,000.
